Where Lydtjommi stands
This is the first post, so here is where things are.
Lydtjommi works. It’s a Raspberry Pi in a 3D-printed case with a touchscreen and two speakers, and a web app on the phone for the parent side of things. These parts are done:
- Kid mode. Every station, podcast, album and playlist can be ticked “For kids”, and the box shows only those. That works for Spotify too, per playlist, which matters when the kids share a family account.
- Bedtime lock. At a time you set, the music stops, white noise takes over, and the box stays locked until morning.
- Parent PIN for the settings.
- Setup wizard on the phone: Wi-Fi, Spotify, and what to show.
- Touchscreen UI with big covers and big buttons.
- Bluetooth speaker mode, for when someone wants to play from their own phone.
- Norwegian and English, plus uploadable translations for any other language.
- Battery badge, so you can see when it needs charging.
What’s next: a full code review before the code goes public, a rebuilt SD card image, and the blueprint: case files, wiring, parts list and a proper build guide. The roadmap has the list.
